Kiosk- Sherwood

University site visit a cafe called Kiosk in Sherwood.

Visit to the Kiosk cafe in Sherwood, the cafe has two buildings separated by an outside space, The the kiosk has made use of a shipping container to solve the problem of the British weather. Speaking to Kiosk owner Beth Marriott-Howell, who told us the reason they decided to use a shipping container was for several reasons, the main being the business as they found that although the outdoor space was great and unique in the summer the winter meant that people could not stay and enjoy their coffee and thus the business was losing potential business.

The shipping container offers the ideal solution as it, solves the problem quickly, cheaply & effectively. The container is temporary solution while a more permanent  structure is designed, approved and built.

The shipping container has been adapted to meet all its needs for space, comfort and entertainment. the container has heating, lighting, seating, storage music systems, surround  sound  and a projector ( not yet installed)

the design also attracts attention and creates an advertising for the business which could easily have been missed.
